    From 18 races, there were 18 pole sitters and 18 winners. 4 Drivers won from pole position,( Massa and Hamilton 3 times each, Raikkonen and Vettel once each).
    7 times the race was won from qualifying 2nd on the grid. Robert Kubica did so once, as did Kimi Raikkonen, Heikki Kovalainen and Lewis Hamilton. Felipe Massa managed this 3 times.
    One driver achieved one win from 3rd place on the grid, Lewis Hamilton at Monaco.
    Fernando Alonso managed to win from 4th on the grid at Fuji, and 15th a week earlier at Singapore.

    In the 2008 Formula 1 Season:
    The driver on pole had a 44.44444444% chance of winning the race.






    The driver in who qualified in 2nd position, had a 38.88888889% chance of winning the race





    The Driver who qualified 3rd, had a 5.555555556% chance of winning the race, as did the driver who qualified 15th and 4th.

    Wow that's interesting, particularly the statistic that the driver starting on pole only had a 44.4% chance of winning.

    Alex helped me work out (lol) that in 2007 the pole sitter had a 70.58% chance of winning, and in 2006 it was 55.5%. Shows how open it was this season.

    It also suggests that in 2008, you dont wanna be on the 2nd row. The front row took over 80% of all wins.

    It also seems that there is a 0.01% chance of Honda even making the 2nd row in 2009.
