New design partner for US F1

With its first Formula 1 season fast approaching, the US F1 team has confirmed a new technical partnership with Advanced Composites Group (ACG). Part of Umeco plc, the company has signed a long-term contract with the Charlotte team.

With the outfit headed by Ken Anderson and Peter Windsor, US F1 is now the only team yet to sign at least one driver ahead of the 2010 campaign. Its collaboration with ACG is aimed at enhancing the squad's chances of meeting its deadlines for constructing its first F1 car, as the clock continues to tick.

"US F1 Team is pleased to announce ACG as a technical partner in the design and construction of our 2010 Formula 1 car," Team Principal Anderson explained. "The team faces a tremendous challenge to design and produce the first American-based Formula 1 car in more than 40 years and ACG's composites expertise will be critical for us to meet our goals and expectations in 2010 and beyond."

"There is an exciting time of change in Formula 1 racing and this has created the opportunity for new teams to enter the grid," added Adrian Potts, President of ACG Inc. "US F1 Team is the sole American entry and we are proud to support them from our Tulsa (Oklahoma) facility. I'm confident that the new team has signed up with the very best support and service in the industry and we will demonstrate that their confidence in us is well placed."
