Doubt it. I think it's gonna be Bourdais and Sato.

    Rees, you are a diamond.

Rubens Barrichello has confirmed that Toro Rosso is one of his options to remain in the sport next season.

The Brazilian veteran is hoping to be retained by Honda, who at the recent Barcelona test did not call up Barrichello but instead evaluated the young GP2 drivers Bruno Senna and Lucas Di Grassi.

With his seat in clear jeopardy, it emerged that Toro Rosso, the Ferrari powered sister Red Bull team, might be an option for the 36-year-old former Ferrari driver.

According to the German website sport1.de, he confirmed his links with the Faenza-based squad.

Along with his hopes of staying at Honda, Barrichello is quoted as saying: "That is what is motivating me at the moment."

"I love what I do and I still have a lot of energy," he added.

I doubt that if Bourdais wanted to stay in F1, Toro Rosso would get rid of him, I think if he does choose to stay he will be Berger's first choice.

They will, if someone offers more money, ditch him without a third thought. In a fight against Rubens, Sato, Buemi and Senna, who can all offer more cash...

You have to be an idiot to accept a sum of money over a decent driver, and briefcase helicopter throwing aside, Gerhard Berger is not an idiot.

A good driver will bring in alot more money in the long term, and after the infamous Monza... domination... sponsors will be begging.

Right, except Vettel is now at Red Bull, the sponsors arn't stupid enough to not realise Vettel really out did himself that day.

With Toro Rosso's small stature and current financial climate, a pay drive may well be in order to keep the ship steady.

Which is sad not just for Bourdais, but for the sport in general. 2008 was, perhaps, the first year in modern F1 without a single pay-driver in the sport. Not even the test-drivers paid for it: All done by the professionals.

Vettel was a part of the Monza victory, but, as I'm sure I've said in another thread, Vettel is so over-hyped now that people believe he could win the race on foot.

Toro Rosso have done a phenominal job to have won a race, and remember Bourdais was strong as well that weekend. You have to be a bit of a prat not to realise that it was just as much a victory by Toro Rosso as it was by Vettel.

Let's not forget how wet it was and how far back Hamilton and Raikkonen were on the grid. I'm sure if the weekend was in normal conditions, STR would be fighting for the final points, oh and it would be Vettel looking for them. Wink

And we know Toro Rosso are strong in the rain at the same time. Just as I said, Bourdais was also strong that weekend.

I'm in now way dismissing Vettel, but don't overlook Toro Rosso's fantastic achievement, which, going back to the subject at hand, will inevitably attract sponsors.

Piquet's got a salary. Not a large one - but he didn't pay for his seat...

As for Aguri, even 10 pay-drivers couldn't save them. They were sponsored by.. a fake company. Google 'SS United' - not a single trace, mention in the papers, except for article.a Wiki that confirms it's fakeness. They were actually conned! Shocked

Monza? It was a combination of Vettel, STR's superb planning and preparation, and the conditions: the top three not qualifying well, Kovalainen's drier-based setup, and of course the spray that prevented anyone from following anybody in the first laps.

I don't think Piquet pays for a seat but he brings a massive sponsor to part back the team for the time hes there.

I mean more than any other driver that they could sign on. Im sure the Piquet name would offer a larger budget than say a Di Grassi. The recent news that Senna was ready to have $15,000,000 of sponsors and backing to secure a drive is a staggering amount.

His salary is not real. He brought his father money + plus sponsors totaling around 10-12 million Euro for his seat in Renault. Although the media talked a lot about him losing his 2009 seat, he had 2009 signed already from the beginning.

So he got no salary? I knew he bought a big amount of money to the table but i thought that he had a small salary.

I don't think he'd have physically paid for his seat, just been attractive through sponsors, just as most other drivers that get chosen are. Senna has Embratel.

No offence to anyone here but if someone is going to know how Piquet gets his seat it's Fernando.
